Bland í poka

Nokkrir hlutir hafa vakið hjá mér áhuga í dag. Einn af þeim var þátturinn Sjálfstætt fólk með Jóni Ársæli. Í þættinum í kvöld var Hannes Hólmsteinn Gissurarson(héðan í frá verður minnst á hann sem Nesa) tekinn tali og kom margt skemmtilegt fram í þættinum. Auðvitað er fyrsta tilfinningin sú að þarna fari maður sem dulið hefur sinn innri mann í langan tíma og sýni hann nú stoltur, líkt og lítill strákur í sandkassa bendir pabba sínum á kastalann sem hann var að byggja.

Nesi kom ágætlega út úr þessum þætti en einhvern veginn fannst mér hann(þátturinn) ekki vera nægilega djúpur á pólítíkinni. Þegar rætt var um hana spurði Jón Ársæll spurninga eins og "ertu ekki stoltur yfir að hafa breytt Íslandi?". Þetta fannst mér skjótta skökku við og ekki vera í stíl við hinn ágenga Jón sem ég kannast við. Frábær punktur var þegar Jón Ársæll brosti í kampinn og spurði Nesa hvort hann elskaði ekki Davíð. Nesi átti svo erfitt með því að neita því, að um stund var þetta hálfpínlegt.

Endapunkturinn var svo afmælisveislan hans Nesa. Þessi stund sannleikans hlýtur að vera hápunkturinn á starfi hvers frétta og blaðamanns. Í afmæli Hannesar voru samankomnir tugir, eflaust hundruðir af karlmönnum, allir Sjálfstæðismenn(kommar eru ekki boðnir í svona afmæli glæsimenna), allir klæddir í sitt flottasta dress, hlustandi af andakt á Davíð lýsa ást sinni á Nesa. Gott ef það heyrðist ekki bara snökt og ekkasog úr salnum þegar Davíð lýsti því yfir kerskur að Nesi væri gáfaður. Svo var hrópað húrra u.þ.b. fjórum sinnum og jakkafataskarinn brosti sínu breiðasta. Ég er meira að segja viss um að ég heyrði röddina hans Sigurðar Kára skera sig úr raddkófinu, slík var ákefðin sem greina mátti á svipbrigðum hans að minnsta kosti. Þeir eru góðir vinir skilst mér.

Atburður númer tvö er að sjálfsögðu dauði hvals. Skilst mér að hann hafi látist úr einhvers konar bráðalungnabólgu sem lýsti sér með kvefi. Nú er ég aldeilis hlessa enda hélt ég að slíkum sjúkdómum hefði verið útrýmt síðasta ár.

Mér skilst einnig að Paul Bremer landsstjóri Íraks hafi loksins fattað djókinn sem George Bush sagði honum þegar hann kíkti í heimsókn á þakkargjörðinni. Hélt hann blaðamannafund fyrr í dag þar sem hann lét hafa eftir sér stoltur á svip; "we got him".
